-“Luis” We work with former and current injection drug users to prevent HIV, Hep C and substance abuse through our harm reduction curriculum. Our curriculum is 10 sessions and each participant has the opportunity to:
Our goal is to:
100% of our peers are encouraged to know their status as far as Hep C and HIV. We document this for each individual. We offer case management services for our program participants and provide referrals for support services. Individual mental health is available to our participants as well.
Latin Crossroads prevents the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C by educating former and current Latino injection drug users about health and safer behaviors, assisting their efforts to teach this information and distribute bleach kits to other users, and connecting them to drug addiction recovery and other area resources. Twice a month, this group comes together for meetings at Plaza de Aztlan that focus on their specific health concerns, such as HIV, sexuality and substance use. Participants also strategize methods and areas for distribution of sterilizing bleach kits to other users to prevent the spread of Hep-C and HIV. Mind - Leaders encourage open discussion of health related issues and explicitly addresses safer sexual and drug using behavior. Spirit - Grain knowledge about self in order to begin making informed choices. Please contact Ceasar at 303-446-8800 |
